Site Update! Part Three!

Crazyness! Not only is the site once again updated, but I am writing my third blog post of the week! What the heck, man!

Overall, I think it needs some work, but hey, I figure a front page that actually showcases the games that I've made is a pretty good feature for a site that I made to showcase my games. Right? And hey, it also has my latest comic and blog post (maybe I should put a few more up as well...), so at least it's functional.

Right below this on the list of updates I made today is one for just me. I can now change the attributes of comics that I put on the site, meaning I can update and fix them if I get them wrong. Seeing as comics have been a part of this site for a year, and compromise about half of the things I produce, you would be forgiven for thinking that I had or should have had this feature all along.

Now then, I think the site is more or less up to snuff for the release of my next game, so I just need to go finish that game. Soon. I hope. Peace out!

Site Update! Take Two!

Well, I had typed up a beautiful, elegant, thoughtful, hilarious, heartfelt post about all the new changes to the site, but then Windows decided to force its stupid update restart on me and the post was lost forever. I don't feel like writing another.

All the updates are as follows: the color scheme is lighter, including the bright blue blog post headers, game pages now have text for titles instead of images (yay for search engine results), the game list is categorized, the site title is different.

So yeah, and watch out for more updates soon. This site will kick a** by the time I'm done with it (which is to say never).

Comic #19: Based on True Events

Just ponder for a moment the fact that this is actually sort of based on real life occurrences. Not in my life, but certainly in a real, living human's. I think that's a first for this comic. Or the 19th, depending on how you look at it.

Under the hot sun, I have been slaving away at burning my skin. I was very close to completing a new game, and I guess I still technically am, but I seem to have lost all momentum. Which sucks. But I still have faith that I can complete it by the end of the month or the summer or the year or my life. I just don't know that I'll get that elusive follow up done in the same time frame.

So that's what I got coming out on the gamefront. I'm also thinking about some design changes to the old website. I think a proper front page could do wonders. After all, who cares about some boring monthly blog? I also would like to add more colors, but I've got to be very selective about which ones I add to my very exclusive repertoire.

That should be all for now! Oh, and I just decided that registered users of this site will get first dibs on the beta of my next game, so watch out for that! See ya!

What is This?

OH! BOOM! NEW COMIC! The SIX WEEK STREAK is DONE SON! And June will not go comic-less. COUNT IT! Woo! Where's the tylenol?

Kay, now that that outburst has subsided, hopefully, let's get onto business. Notice anything different about the site? No, you don't, because you don't pay attention/exist. Some minor changes have occurred, but it's mostly "under-the-hood" stuff. Oh, and the font has seen some slight updates to certain symbols, including "m", "n", and "c". What a bunch of characters!

Anyone that is a user on this site and is logged in will no longer have a box ad on the sidebar, so that's another incentive for you to join the vast expanse of the 5 people that have accounts on this site. Also, I think I'll invite users to try out my upcoming game before it's released, so sign up for that. I should explain this somewhere...

You should be prepared, because 2013 may just end up being the first year that I release two entirely distinct games. Shocking. Stay tuned for more!

He's Alive!

Dan Bucci is not dead! Yet... I'm still alive, or else I would not be writing this blog post. So yeah. When I think about it, it's pretty interesting that as soon as I finished up all of my classes and got home and finally had all the time in the world, I broke my comic streak. The fact that I no longer feel guilty about playing video games in my free time seriously hurts my productivity but also severely heals my soul.

Anyway, I'll try and get a comic up this Monday, as if anyone cares. I've got other stuff that I'm working on right now, and the fact that Comicus (the new name for my Comic Maker) is kind of wrecked right now, left in the midst of a mass remodeling effort, is not doing much to convince me to make comics instead of games or websites or websites that function as games. Hm... what could that mean?

Make user accounts people! Cool shit is coming to them soon. Also, notice various site changes, people! Your avatar is now drawn in your user-box in the lower loft corner of the page, which I think is pretty cute. Also, the proper user-box is almost drawn when you first log in. Also, keyboard shortcuts and sh*t! Left hides the sidebar, and right shows it. Just incase you want to go full screen. Also, you can go to "Home" by pressing "H", "Comics" with "C", etc. I should add a "Save Post" short cut too, in case I write a long a** post like this one...

Next up, fun stuff! Maybe. PS Users will get early access to games on this site. For free!!! Seriously, sign the f**k up.

New Feature! User Avatars!

Yeah! Forget studying for finals! Also, it's a non-Monday-Comic post! Now every user has their own avatar that they can edit on their user page, which can be reached by clicking your name. So that's pretty cool. And I guess more stuff is coming soon.

Oh, and now users also get EXP for every minute they're on the site, and the level thing is actually updated (though, it's a bit glitchy right now). Playing Candy box ! (http://candies.aniwey.net/) is taking its toll, though I'd like to think that I had this in mind for a while now.

Until later!

Comic #17: Dreams

Hey, it's eight in a row! Woo! I made this one for all of you 3 people, even though I really should be studying for finals, but hey, I don't want to do that.

Anyway, we're up to 3 "users" who are not me, so that's kind of cool. Eventually, users will be able to do stuff that other non-users cannot do or something. I don't know. Yeah...

Very important to me is feedback, which is why comics now have comments, just like the blueboard and my only three games, so that's a cool upgrade that you should try out. On the to-do list are user avatars, a collapsible sidebar, and blog post comments. Who knows when those will get here, but yeah, keep an eye out.

Eh... peace.

Comic #16: Hypothetically

Seven. Down. Cutting it close. Technically, the captions are off, which kills me. And I didn't do outlines. But I like this one better without them. Count it.

Lots of stuff happening up in here. Not really. Uh... yeah. Oh sh*t! User accounts! I made them! You should make one! And then soon enough, you'll be able to do sh*t with them! Maybe! (Really, they just let me see who actually comes to my dang site. No one's signed up yet. Not all that surprising...)

I have one more week of classes and a week of finals, so there's that. I also started coding not one, but two new projects last week, and I may started a third in Rails this week, because f**k making serious progress on any of the 6 I currently have.

More stuff will be written next week, I think.

Comic #15: Conversation Deux

Hey, so a new comic happened. Surprisingly, it continued from the previous comic. Even more surprisingly, it made for SIX STRAIGHT MONDAYS WITH A NEW COMIC. I should have tried this weekly stuff sooner. But bi/triweekly seemed so much better...

I still don't know if I like the whole story arc thing, but I'm not gonna bow out unless it really goes way downhill. Like, way more downhill from where it currently is. Like, slipping on a wet hill after the rain and tumbling all the way down, till your new khakis are green with grass, and your kick a** tiger shirt is brown with the single piece of dog s**t that your mongrels didn't manage to find and devour. F**kin' high school, man.

Phew. Don't know what got into me there. Certainly not an overwhelming urge to work. I finally had a nice long break that I could do anything with and I didn't do s**t. Except for discovering Gravity Falls, which is fantastic.

So that's pretty much it for me. Same time next week? Maybe. Maybe.

Comic #14: Conversation I

It up! Five in a row! I decided to start using outlines again. I stopped using them because they were cluttering up the picture and having no outlines looks so much classier. But, not having them does sort of confuse things and make characters blend in with the background, so I compromised. Outlines are now only 1 pixel thick and are only for characters, so we'll see where that gets us.

Coolio. Other stuff. Uh... oh, I've worked a little bit on Time Chopper. It's still broken on this site, but it works at time.foodthechildren.com, sort of. You no longer start with a weapon and can only hold one, which does make it suck more, but will hopefully lead to actual gameplay at some point in the future, whenever I decide what that will be. I'll miss the nihilistic civilian death, but no one else will. Particularly because no one knows the damn thing exists.

Everything else that happened this week is not worth mentioning. Ta ta for now.
